The biggest story behind AI isn’t happening in software. It’s happening in the physical world.

Nine months ago, I shared that a new chapter was beginning at Selectek.

Today, midway through the year, I can say with even more conviction that chapter is being written every day by our team, our clients, our candidates, and the partnerships we are building together.

At Selectek, we have committed to becoming the leading engineering and technology staffing solution. That commitment is showing up in how we advise, how we partner, how we invest in relationships, and how we continue to evolve alongside our clients and candidates. While many sectors have faced uncertainty, engineering continues to stand apart as one of the most resilient areas of professional staffing. Demand for specialized technical talent remains strong, and in many markets the challenge isn’t finding work, it’s finding enough qualified people to deliver it.

Every conversation about AI right now seems to focus on the model; what it can write, analyze, design, predict, or automate. But behind every breakthrough is something very real that must be engineered, powered, designed, built, commissioned, and maintained.

Data centers. Substations. Transmission infrastructure. Cooling systems. Controls. Structural systems. Power delivery. Mission critical facilities.

The digital future does not happen without the physical infrastructure behind it.

Goldman Sachs Research recently projected that U.S. data center power demand could climb from 31 gigawatts in 2025 to 41 gigawatts in 2026 and 66 gigawatts by 2027. ConstructConnect also reported that January 2026 marked a record month for U.S. data center construction starts, totaling $25.2 billion.

Those numbers tell a bigger story. It’s a story we’ve had the privilege to witness firsthand for more than 35 years while partnering with organizations ranging from regional engineering firms to global leaders across infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, telecommunications, and mission critical environments.

AI is not just creating demand for technology. It is creating demand for engineers, designers, project managers, construction leaders, commissioning experts, controls specialists, and the technical talent required to deliver some of the most complex infrastructure projects in the world.

That is where Selectek comes in.

For more than three decades, Selectek has partnered with organizations building some of the most important infrastructure, facilities, systems, and technologies that drive our economy forward. From power and energy to manufacturing, telecommunications, engineering, and large-scale infrastructure projects, we’ve had the privilege of supporting both industry leaders and emerging innovators as they design, build, expand, and maintain the projects that keep our world moving.

Today, that work increasingly includes supporting organizations operating at a global scale across engineering, energy, infrastructure, and mission critical, and emerging technology markets. While these companies are often recognized for the projects they deliver and the technologies they develop, we’re proud to help connect the talented professionals who make those outcomes possible.

I am incredibly proud of our team and grateful for the clients who continue to trust us as a true partner.

The future is being built right now.

At Selectek, we’re proud to partner with the people and organizations building it.

And if the first half of 2026 is any indication, the future of engineering, infrastructure, energy, and mission critical development has never looked brighter.

The next chapter is just getting started!
